Submit a Panel

If you’re here, you’re interested in hosting a panel at AnimeIowa – great! Attendee panels are a large part of the events at the convention, and in years past there have been a lot of really excellent panels and workshops. We love to see the new ideas that our attendees bring to the convention.

Before you fill out the panel request form, please read these few guidelines. They are intended to help make it easier both for you and the Programming staff to work together and make up a great schedule for 2010.

Timeline: The Panel Submission Form will be open until June 1st. Any panel requests submitted after June 1st will not be considered. If your panel is accepted, you will receive a confirmation email with the day and time of your scheduled panel by mid-June.

Subject Matter: AnimeIowa, as you know, is an anime convention. Therefore, we prefer that the content of your panel or event be in some way related to Japanese culture. This includes, but not is entirely exclusive to: anime, manga, video games originating in Japan, J-pop, J-rock, fashion, etc. If the programming department feels that your panel does not fit into the scope of Japanese culture or is inappropriate, we reserve the right to reject your submission.

*Please be sure to note if your panel should be 18+

Schedule Times: You will be able to request three time preferences, and we will do our best to accommodate you. Prime time for panels tends to be Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, so of course we cannot fit everyone in to these spaces as their first preferences. If you are in any way at all able to do a Friday afternoon or Sunday panel, please be flexible! **NOTE: If you are suddenly unable to attend your own panel for whatever reason, you MUST contact the programming department ASAP!

Equipment: This year we are pleased to say that we will have projectors and sound in EVERY panel room except for the workshop room (which will have only sound). What this means is that we are able to have more panels that require a projector, and will have fewer limitations on what can be scheduled there. We will have Tech Ninjas on hand to help you get connected to the projectors before the panel in case there are any problems. Please state also if you will need other equipment such as white boards/markers, pencil/paper, a bowl of M&Ms with the red ones taken out, etc.

**YOU WILL NOT HAVE YOUR BADGE OR HOTEL ROOM COMPENSATED BY ANIMEIOWA FOR BEING A PANELIST**

You will, however, be able to receive volunteer hours, which you can turn in for free stuff (DVDs, figures, manga, etc) and extra convention perks!
